Hi, we are in Aberdeen and have found that the water filters we use (Pur filters in the gallon purifier) are getting clogged. I have never seen this before. We were in the Apex/Cary area for 2 years and this never happened. We have been in the area 3 weeks and have gone through 2 filters- they just get clogged and slow way down and then just stop working.

These are not the ones attached to the faucet, but are in a container that we filter water through for drinking.

Did we get a bad batch or is the local water? We are stumped... If anyone can shed light on this, we sure would appreciate it!

Thank you...

If you are on town water, why not contact the water department? They may have had pipe problems. In fact the "Special Notice" in the second paragraph here is worrisome: Water - Aberdeen, NC

I'd also ask you neighbors if they are having problems with water quality.

Default good

This is good, in a way. It means that the filter is doing its job by stopping contaminants from getting into you. It may be hard water but it could be many things.

I was wondering if the stuff was just soil that the filter is trapping. If so, report it to the water department, because it may be a break. Or, they may be flushing the lines and it will go away in a few days.

A friend who has a well has a lot of tannin in the water. There's nothing they can do about it, so they used bottled water for drinking.

Aberdeen uses well water and there may be high mineral content in the water that is overloading your filter.
