Our family is considering a move for a job in Mebane. Can anyone suggest family friendly subdivisions within a 1/2 hour commute. We have two children, in 8th and 1st grades so we are looking for excellent schools. We would like at least 3 BR, 2 1/2 BA, 2000 sq ft. on about .25 acre. We would prefer a newer home, preferably in a community offering pool/tennis. Budget under $300K. Thanks for any info.!

Hi

I would think that living in hillsborough would be a good bet. Mebane is half way between hillsborough and burlington. I think you may have better luck finding houses in the hillsborough area though. The schools are good, the housing is reasonable. Hillsborough as a great downtown area and beautiful (but expensive) homes in the historic district.

I would be happy to look up some homes for you, just send me a private email or a PM.

Leigh

Default Hillsborough Taxes

Hillsborough is in Orange County; the taxes this year are $1.46 per $100.00. In Mebane itself, in Alamance County, they are $1.06/100.

I myself would go in the other direction, it appears the dollar goes further out west.

If you want excellent schools, look in Chapel Hill/Carrboro.
