Citrix with the Raleigh Union Station right next door. Will breath new life into the once dark alleys of the Warehouse District. Both will also help connect Glenwood South to the rest of DT. IMO.

What a good post.
I am in literally the same boat and trying to figure those two places out. I am coming from Venice CA, not that its a great place but its liberal and chill, but $3M for a house, (2000 sq feet) homes in Charlotte for $800,000 are equivalent to the Palisades, Hancock Park and Beverly Hills, $4M and up. I am going to be an immediate home owner so for me that all makes a huge difference bringing money from here to there I can be a king. I just cashed out and ready for a move.
So with that I am still unsure of which? I am seeking hip, liberal, artistic, community driven places where its a melting pot of chill people. Being a gay guy and living in hip Venice made little difference really, everyone blended and nobody gave a crap.

I would love to hear what you came up with and why, and anyone else's ideas on this!! I am going to be selling Real Estate there in NC as I have been doing thats for awhile here and done well, yet another reason as I need a good solid hip single community as well.

Be in touch.

From 2012 report of Downtown Raleigh
Raleigh Downtown area is 1.18 Square miles.
The 3 mile ring is just to tell the how many people live near downtown.

You might want to also consider Durham. Not as large as either Charlotte or Raleigh. But worth checking into.

Those are some nice condos. You know we don't have those here Charlotte may have more condos but as usual we are leading in a much more important category.

Raleigh is kicking Charlotte's butt in post-recession job growth - Charlotte Business Journal

Raleigh added 72,000 jobs after losing 33,000.
Charlotte added 100,900 After losing 72,000 jobs.

Charlotte has diversified our jobs since the financial crisis. That's a strong comeback for CLT. Especially considering our economy is heavily focused on Finacial industry.... And it was a financial recession.

New York better not get to comfy being countries largest city with Raleigh exploding :0 Raleigh's growing faster! ......

Charlotte gained 30,000 more jobs than Raleigh. You can't just say "well you just got the ones you lost". No, thats not all true

The Financial sector in Charlotte before the financial crisis employee 67,000 . At the end of 2013, Charlotte had only 61,000 people employed in the finance industry.

From the CBJ

"Is a day coming when Charlotte will no longer be Banktown?

It might already be here."

"This week, we’re publishing our list of the top employers in the region. And yes, both BofA and Wells are on the list. But when I talked to economists about what trend lines are telling us about the future, none of them mentioned banking as a future hot bed of activity in Charlotte. The numbers say health care, education and other professional white-collar occupations will drive the job growth here."

Are we entering a post-Banktown era in Charlotte? - Charlotte Business Journal
