holy cow, the Whole Foods will be 47,000 Sq. Ft. large. I'm assuming that would make the largest Whole foods in NC. The one here in Huntersville is big and that one is 35,000 Sq. Ft.
The There will also be an additional 15,000 Sq. Ft. of retail and it will open up to the Light rail station.
There will also be 400 Hotel rooms and 400 Apartment units.
This project will compliment Crescents project a block away (past Westin). It is the 30 floor Office tower that will focus heavily on retail to. It's not publicly confirmed, but it should be Belk's.
This project (and even more so with Tryon Place) will really, really further the gap between Charlotte's uptown and all the other cities in NC. Furthering the gap of Charlotte's uptown being on a different level than our Tarheel counterparts.
Located at the southwest intersection of Stonewall and Caldwell streets, the community will be directly connected to the Stonewall Station, which serves popular Uptown destinations including the NFL Carolina Panthers' Bank of America Stadium, Levine Center for the Arts, and the Charlotte Convention Center. With free-flowing access to Whole Foods Market, it represents one of the nation's most accessible transit-oriented grocers and is perfectly situated for everyday Uptown living.

Ok guys, honest question. Besides being on the rail line, what's so impressive about this project. It looks just like 100 Plaza to me. With a Whole Foods attached to it?
This looks just like 100 Plaza. Probably designed by the same guy, sorry. Even down to the retail space.
It's cool that's it's by the rail line. I grant you that. Other than that looks like 100 Plaza to me. Not saying it's not nice and all.
It does look similar. But the biggest (and it's a big one) difference is location (and by that I don't mean just because it's on a light rail stop).
In context of uptown Charlotte, it is a huge game changer because Retail has been the detriment of uptown for decades. Now, with Whole Foods coming online, and the other thousands of sq. ft. at this parcel and Tryon Place with Belks and even more retail and all the other retail rumored uptown (Especially at Trade and Tryon with two major renovations at the block happening to convert lobby to Retail).
People from surrounding neighborhoods will actually go uptown to shop. Cities I admire and want Charlotte learn from are Denver, Portland and Minneapolis.

Again it's not so much about the building but what this development signifies for Charlotte's urban core. It enhances the efforts to make Uptown a true 24/7 place. Having a retailer the stature of Whole Foods attached will help attract more retail. Plus it brings life to the outer edge of Uptown ,the convention center area & creates a more visible connection to SouthEnd
