I already live in N.C. I am looking to move later this year and am just trying to get some ideas on where I should move to. I don't like where I am now, don't like the area. (Taylorsville/Statesville area)

Heres' my wish list:

I LOVE rural settings and do not like to live in a city. I also need some land for my herb business and also would love to have a shop that I can sell to the public on my property.

don't have any school age children, so schools are not an issue.

safe area and not sketchy

Any questions let me know and thanks for any input.

Taylorsville - Statesville are nice rural areas, can you divulge in what you don't like about that area so you can be recommended something more better.
Are you wanting to stay in the Piedmont or seeking rural areas in other part of the state?
What is ideal.population and acreage?

You would need to live on a well-travelled road to pick up business. I'd check the areas which already have wineries, such as the Yadkin Valley and Duplin County, so you would already have people willing to drive there. There's a synergy with wine and herbs. Hmm...just develop a line of cheese, and I'd visit you!

I'd also check so recent back issues of Our State magazine, as there have been articles about people making a living from specialty farms.

Statesville, Taylorsville... and what Sunny asked.
"...south of Charlotte to north of Winston Salem and not quite into Highpoint" is not rural

You need traffic. Try driving US 74 west from Gastonia. You'd probably want to be in one of 3 places. Between Gastonia & Shelby, near Lake Lure, or in the vicinity of Asheville.

My herb business is not just the growing of herbs. I am an herbalist and have both culinary and medicinal business.

W/O getting into trouble here, the best I can say is that only certain types of people will be interested in my items. It doesn't appear to be in Taylorsville or Statesville and I don't see how I can have the business in this area. I could be wrong.
