Moving to Seven Lakes
I live in Yosemite National Park in California. We have bought a house in Seven Lakes north and plan to spend at least half of every year there.
What are the pros and cons of that area?

Well, Yosemite is amazing! I think I would rather stay there the whole year.
I assume you like golf?
Of course pinehurst is very famous for their golf.
The summers are brutal. Moore co. and the sandhills are the hottest part of the state temp wise. The area is kind of hilly and dominated by pine trees. But I guess you know all this if you will be living here for half of the year?
Southern pines is a nice little town though. Just a lot different from Yosemite.

We just moved to Seven Lakes. I was wondering if any knows if there is some Military family here in the community as well? And how hot does it really get here during the summer? =) And does anyone know where to find baby sitters? This place is small and some of the day cares are not accepting, because they are full, and I don't want my little ones seperated.. well any information would be greatly appreciated!.. Thanks

We're looking to move to NC after our last son graduates HS (2010). We've been sent some info today on lots available in Seven Lakes. We'd like to buy the land now and build later. We're only in our early 50's so we're not looking to retire--yet. What are the employment opportunities around this area? My husband is a carpenter for our County. He also owns a small home improvement business. I'm a Tax Practitioner during the season and an Interior Deco.Sewing. We're registered with the State for these businesses. Our oldest son lives in Charlotte. Any info would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Freedom Bound:
Try looking at NC Employment Commission. Job listings. Next try The Pilot (local newspaper). My opinion? Economy is slowing. Not yet dead here in this area (Moore County), but definitely slowing.
Home improvement around here is based on "word of mouth". Being new, would be a disadvantage. Interior Decorating, for the most part, depends on a "good economy".
Wish I could be more optimistic.
Good news? Home Depot and Olive Garden are both building here. Obviously they see this area as "growth potential".
There are jobs and opportunites available here, but in the 2 fields that you mention? It will take some time to establish yourselves.
Again, I'm no expert, just a plain old resident. Although I am in the process of getting someone to do some repairs and improvements on my own home. Painting, addition, and re-modeling.
If I can be of any further help, please let me know.

Hi,
Southern Pines, Aberdeen are only about 20 min away and have a lot more shopping and dining options.
