If you are trying to figure out if a runner is OK, this information from another runner will help:
"For those checking on friends and family in Boston, if their bib numbers are less than 9000, they were in the first wave.
Each wave of the three waves started 20 minutes apart.
The people who were affected were most likely those in the second and third wave.
All of the people in the first wave are quite fast so most, if not all of them, made it through before the bomb."

You can check individual runners' registration here.

Cleveland, that's horrible.

They actually said this morning that they do not have a person of interest. I guess they were interested in someone for awhile and then weren't interested anymore.

I know a runner from Chapel Hill who was there, but finished earlier and is okay.

All runners from ASU and the Boone area are reported to be safe.

I have an uncle who lives in Salem, MA. He usually participates but a couple weeks before last year's marathon he was in a motorcycle accident and has had knee problems preventing him from participating since then. His facebook post said that he was considering participating this year but when he tried to start training for it his pain came back. A sign, perhaps?

I also know a family friend who would normally participate in the marathon but decided to run in a local one this year instead. Had he gotten the same time he did in that race at the Boston Marathon, he would have been crossing the finish line seconds before the explosions.

I wonder if the security at the marathons, 5K runs coming up in a few weeks is going to be different, heighten or done different here in North Carolina.

We was planning on going to the Electric Run in Charlotte but I am really second guessing now especially since its a night time run.

Well, if the airport is any indication of how Charlotte LE will be handling things for any races, I can assure you, things will definitely be tight w/ security.

Security definitely tightened up at the airport - I can say this from first hand experience, the day after the bombing.
