Long long ago we used to go to Sunset Beach from Fayetteville. About halfway there was a good place to stop that had a nice roadside restaurant and a souvenir store. It had a big front porch. The road was NOT a limited access highway, you just stopped at the stopsign and turned in. Clearly EVERYONE stopped there on the way to the beach.

30 years later I don't even know what road we would have taken...would it have been 53 then?

anyone know this place and if it is still there?

The way we went from Fayetteville to Sunset was to go 87/131 thru Bladenboro to Whiteville. We didn't go on 53. Sometimes we'd veer over to Dublin and stop and get some peanuts.

I don't know exactly where you're talking about. Maybe some place in Whiteville?

Have fun whichever way you go. If you find the spot post back. I'm curious now. We usually go down 40 to 17 now. It's pretty quick.
