People always warn me about the humidity in NC when I talk about wanting to move there, but I figure I'll handle summers there the same way I do here. Go from air-conditioned house to air-conditioned car to air-conditioned office to air-conditioned car to air-conditioned store to air-conditioned car to air-conditioned house.

We definitely do not have dry heat.
This summer we are not expierencing any extreme heat. There was only between 4 to 5 days temperature above 90 for the month of July.
The foresast for the next two weeks is in mid 80's or barely 90.

I spent the first 30 years of my life in the Midwest. Summers there are disgusting Real humidity that comes from living in an area without a lot of trees. The sun hits the ground and warms it, causing moisture to rise and hang in the air. Blech. We've had heatwaves here; even a killer drought last year; but relief can be found for those of us in the Piedmont by heading to the mountains if we get cabin fever.
Our families in the St. Louis and KC area constantly harp at us to "come home" for a visit around 4th of July or Labor Day. "Don't you miss the family cookouts?" they ask. We say "sure," we miss them. But we'll pay our visits in the fall, after the nasty season passes, out there. Since family never visits us (the road seems to run one way ) they have this idea that it must be hotter here "in the South" and don't believe us when we say that they have it worse.
I made friends with the girl from North Carolina(the one in the last post) and I asked her how she could stand the dry southern heat and humidity. She said the cool southern summer breeze is worth it.

You learn, to tolerate the insanely humid days, you have to get out early and slowly acclimate over the course of the day. Otherwise it can be just as miserable to us as anyone else. This evening was a good example.
Also as stated before, I will gladly deal with this in order to have mild winters!
THIS summer is just weird. We've been setting records for LOWS in August, not highs. I've had the a/c off, windows open for the last week. Put the blanket back on the bed and wearing my early fall pj's at night.
