Depending on how far from the city's center you want to go, these are probably the most common suburbs for the daily commute to the city of Greensboro or Raleigh:

Greensboro
Jamestown
Oak Ridge
Pleasant Garden
Sedalia
Stokesdale
Summerfield
Whitsett
Colfax
Browns Summit
Gibsonville

Raleigh
Apex
Cary
Fuquay-Varina
Garner
Holly Springs
Knightdale
Morrisville
Rolesville
Wake Forest
Wendell
Zebulon

I wouldn't say Burlington is close to Raleigh. Center to center, it's over 60 miles.
