Hey Everyone! I applied to two jobs in North Carolina and have done interviews for them both. The interviews sounded pretty positive. I'm not located in North Carolina and will be required to live in my choice from given counties for each job should I get it.

1st Job Required Counties: Durham, Wake, Franklin, Warren, Vance, Granville, Person, Durham, and Orange

2nd Job Required Counties: Bladen, Columbus, Brunswick, New Hanover, Pender, Duplin, Lenoir, Jones, Craven, Pamlioo, Carteret, and Onslow

Factors that will determine where I want to be are:

1) I want to be centrally or close to centrally located. I have a four year old son that will join me once he turns five and can enroll in kindergarten. I think it would be beneficial to be centrally located in the event of an emergency and simply for convenience in regards to picking him up from school.

2) Good School System! I've been browsing around and it seems that Wake is a mess in regards to school assignment. If any of the counties are set up so that children are assigned to schools based on where they live that would be a +.

3) Affordable Housing/Affordable Living: The job, if I get it, will be paying from at least 34,000 to the low 40s. I anticipate getting paid on the higher side because I have a lot of previous experience in the job.

Also reasonable proximity to grocery stores, shopping, entertainment are pluses too.

I know it's a long read but I'll really appreciate some guidance. Thank You!

Oh yes I totally forgot about school enrollment. What is the protocol for enrolling your child into school? What's the age requirement? Also do you enroll him directly in the school you want or am I dealing with the Dept of Education?

Thanks

A child must be 5 on or before August 31st. You enroll him in the school that you are assigned to, based on your address.

For traveling for this second job, you should be located close to Highway 17, as it is the main corridor connecting these counties. I'd suggest living on the north or east side of Jacksonville. If you get the job, I'll suggest some decent schools and neighborhoods.
