Well, the school districts are excellent in Hampstead, but I do not know what they pay their teachers. It wouldn't hurt to check it out, though.

I teach in AZ, and am National Board Certified, as well. NC has THE BEST bonus for NBCTs. With my 7 years of experience and National Board Certification, I would be making $8K per year more teaching in the Durham School District, compared to what I'm currently making in AZ.... and EVERY ASPECT OF THE SEVEN AREAS OF THE COST OF LIVING INDEX IS LOWER IN NC THAN IN AZ! (search Research Triangle Region) I will be living the high life as a teacher in NC, by comparison!

I work in the Cumberland County school district. This is my first year teaching, and in addition to the state salary scale, I got a $1000 sign on bonus and will be getting an approx. 8% supplement at the end of the school year. Cumberland County is not the best district, but there are some good schools here. Good luck!
