yes, that's why it's so lovely having children with jobs (and benefits) and THEIR OWN PLACE at the beach so I can visit when the tourists go home, mostly after Labor Day - still warm enough for bathing suits and I can put my chair anywhere!

Ha ha, I guess I should push my kids to buy at the beach when they're older! Instant vacation! Until they have children and then we become instant babysitters.
Where do you go, mm_mary?

My husband and I are planning on relocating in the spring to the Charlotte area from Connecticut, and have made several trips there looking at property and houses. Since you are in the market, can you tell me the best areas to look at? We are looking for something slightly rural but close enough to commute for work with out to much head ache. We really like the Northeastern and Southeastern sides, but with all the growth, it is know what to look for (or at) if you do not live there.
Any help at all is appreciated.

One rents - Wilmington, and we go to Carolina Beach (the back way); the other, "owns" 2BR marshfront condo in Bluffton, just off the main parkway to Hilton Head Is., where he works. My daughter - Asheville. I've got the BEST of both worlds - and so far, no grandkids

I agree it is what it is, why do people want to move here if they are bothered by what it is?

Hi there,
I am partial to south Charlotte/Union county (hence the name) -- I would suggest looking in Union County. Right now there is a rural component, but I will tell you the county is growing quickly population-wise. Try Waxhaw, Weddington, Hemby Bridge, Stallings to name a few. I can send you some listings if you want -- just PM me
Best of luck to you!
P.S. I grew up in Westchester County, married a Long Island guy and ended up there for a few years before I had to escape

Yes. North Carolina is nice. Please come to Columbus county, and spend your money. Lumber River and Lake Waccamaw are some of the most scenic places in the world, and we're sure you wouldn't regret buying some property here and hiring some of us to build a house for you. We're very interested in your money, and we're extremely eager to work for you. This really is an underappreciated county, and it has the dual benefits of being situated very close to some of the most rapidly growing counties and nicest beaches in the state and being far away from the traffic and noise that infests them. We do have something here other than yams, pecans, and strawberries, and we're nice to yankees.

Don't underestimate this, either.
It is my opinion that the developers target certain states from which to attract people to their state but I don't have any proof of that. Does anyone know if that's true?
