Thanks pvs, I care deeply about this state and want the best but will address concerns to.

I wonder if they manufacturer more than the gum displayed in the article called 'Hi-Chew', that even sounds Japanese. Clever. :
I noticed it was sold in 7-eleven and will have to look out for it as I like green apple but I will just try it out but prefer sugar free gum. Pay cash for fillings will teach a lot about sugar base products.
I am also curious where it made now since that gum in stores now from base on info from the company website.

This from the article is a thought to ponder on though.
Quote:
Gov. Pat McCrory hailed the announcement.
“Morinaga’s decision to locate to Orange County will mean more North Carolina products being sold in the global marketplace,” McCrory said. “Our robust talent pool and attractive quality of life will be a perfect fit for this growing company.”
Does a foreign company that creates a product in NC or USA make it a USA product or NC product

Regardless, manufacturing is the skelton for jobs. Not only the jobs mention that will happen at this plant, but the residual jobs too.
They will need corrugated boxes from companies like Carolina Container, they will need labels and invoices, pallets and shipping etc.

I love Hi-Chews! It's not actually gum, just a fruit chew like Starburst. They have flavors like peach, grape, cherry, strawberry and some others. Hard for me to resist picking up a couple of packs when I am at the Asian grocery store. Just got some today and it says they are currently manufactured in Taiwan but distributed by the American branch in Irvine. I'm loving that they will be made here in NC instead!

It is, The facility will be across from the new Tanger Outlets. The company is Japans longest and largest manufacturer. They should open a store in that mall as the aroma coming from the plant could be in the air.

Training will likely take place at Durham Technical Community College.
