In NC? Since daylight savings time is almost over the only time I will have a chance to railfan now will be at night and on the weekends. Does anyone know of any places in NC that has enough light to video at night? Fayetteville has been great for me in that respect but that's about the only place I can find so far. I'm open to all locations but would prefer something along the "A" line where there is a decent amount of action. Places like Weldon, Rocky Mount, Wilson, Selma down to Fayetteville, Dillon SC, etc? Any ideas? Thanks!

This map might help. In your area, Fayetteville and Durham seems to be the best. If you're willing to travel, Charlotte has freight and passenger rail.

I guess Greensboro would be further than you care to travel?

I have that map urbancharlotte, I need to study it a little closer and google some of the possible spots to see what's out there? I do Fayetteville often and always have good luck there. I'd do Charlotte and just make a day/night trip out of it as it's two hours from me. I've never really hit Durham much, I need to rethink that.

Greensboro is an hour from me and I know exactly where that video was taken WFW&P. The only down side to that location is it gets crowded sometimes. I like to let people have their space. I have to go to Greensboro when I'm in the mood for some Norfolk Southern action since I don't get it where I'm at.

I'm an hour from Hamlet arbyunc and I visit it often. The bad part about Hamlet once the sun goes down it gets dark and stays that way.

If the video below works it shows what I'm looking for. It was shot in Fayetteville where the "A" line runs right down the middle of the street. It sees quite a bit of action after dark and has street lights on both sides of the tracks so I can video at night. Plus the Tropicana Juice Train runs that line. Many thanks for the help, it's greatly appreciated!

I was going to suggest the crossing on S Elm St as you would have the street lights to aid with lighting until I found this video. So, fill me in, exactly where is this location? Along the railyard?

If you copy and paste these numbers into google maps......36.060865,-79.836316....you should see where the video you posted was taken. It's the Pomona yard in Greensboro.

The video I posted I took in Fayetteville at this location....35.052574,-78.886551. I've never shot from the S Elm street location per say but have shot in that general area. I'll check it out, thank you!

Not sure if this is correct but I see people setting up on an open area of the train line at Lee Street and Bringle ferry Road crossing in Salisbury. Nice spot with the sun setting behind you.

I've heard a lot of good things about Salisbury. I could combine some urban exploration with some railfanning and have a great time. Thanks Boss!
