My sister in law lived in Alexander Place apartments. Right nearby are the new Colonial Place apartments. Don't know anyone who's lived there, but they are new, all brick, and look very nice.

No more than any other place and, like any other place, it all depends where you are living. As Sunny suggested, google property management sites, or some of the better-known chain realty companies. Good luck!

If you like small town, come to Troutman, between Statesville and Mooresville. We, like everything south of us, are growing fast, but we still have a small town atmosphere.

what about the west side of charlotte? Madien and Lincolnton for example. Are these areas growing like Charlotte is? Will it eventually come up that way?
Lincolnton seems nice. Is this town welcoming to "Yankees"??

These towns still have their southern small town charm.
For right now I dont think they will loose it or become a Charlotte suburb.
Lincolnton will wellcome "yankees" as long as you come to that town with open mind and accept not complaining or changing the city from what it is or wanting things that this area does not have that you may have up north. The schools are great in Lincoln County and lower tax rate make it a big drawl but I think the distance to Charlotte plays in its favor.
I have been seeing more developments being created east of 321 and Denver is becoming a transplant town so keep that in mind.

I so agree. I have a real spot in my heart for Troutman. Some of the nicest people in the world live there. A warm community and open to newcomers. Someone moving from Alaska would be treated like a celebrity, LOL.
Don't overlook Troutman!!!

Hi!
I just relocated to Sherrills Ford from Philadelphia. I have to tell you, I did extensive research on all the areas you are interested in. I am also on one income, and my hubby has not yet found a job. Sherrills Ford is on the "other side" of Lake Norman, across from Mooresville, and is really quite affordable (100K for 3 bed/2.5 ba/1.57 acres). I'm loving it.
I work in Statesville, and it's not a terrible place to live. It isn't growing as fast as Mooresville or Concord, but it's not a tiny hamlet of a town, either. There are lots of places to live that are nice, clean, and friendly. My parents just bought a 2 bed/2 bath home in one of the historic districts for under $125K.
I don't know much about Salisbury, but I can tell you that Concord, parts of Mooresville and Huntersville are all very, very expensive. I have family in Concord, and I stayed with them when I first came down (before we bought our house). The traffic stinks! I wouldn't be able to live there on one income, and we wouldn't have been able to get as much bang for our buck. Troutman is also nice: quiet, quiant and a pretty place to live. I'm also close to Denver, and that seems like a nice area as well. It all kinda depends on how far aways you want to be from certain areas.
Let me know if I can help with anything else!
Good Luck!
