It is record warm right now, but don't put that parka away. An Arctic cold front is approaching, and it has company in the form of an accompanying low pressure system. However, because the low pressure will actually track to our west, it means that the cold that will be in place on Sunday will be very shallow. Therefore, very few places in NC will see any significant snow out of the system. However, on Sunday, areas of the foothills and Northwest Piedmont/Triad will see sleet and freezing rain. At this time, it is difficult to say how much, but people in those areas should prepare for some possible impacts. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for portions of the state.

Ice or not, the dang front is paralyzed. Bad weather for the foreseeable future. Nothing like cold rain to take the edge off.

Ice is coming down now in Greensboro. It's not really bad. Yet.I love an excuse to stay in all day, cook good stuff for my lunches this week, and snuggle with my dogs.

It's damp, foggy and 41 in Banner Elk. We've got an inversion right now.... it's colder in Hickory according to weather.com.

The ice storm that wasn't apparently has left already! I turned on CNN and the reporter who was covering this storm seemed disappointed she couldn't find much to report from downtown Roanoke so she talked about how cold it was and how eager she was to get to someplace warm. It was so funny!

It was never forecasted to be a big deal for those 80ish counties.
