He is running in a Republican district currently held by Tea Partier Renee Ellmers. Tea Partiers are not known for caring what people think about their "political correctness", to say the least.
I'd like to see him run for a General Assembly seat first. He supports teachers, health care and gay rights among other things. I think he could do the most good for the state at this level.
Its amazing to see the "qualifications" of people who are running the nation.... and the reasons why people vote for them!
