okay, I'll give it a shot...Albemarle is in Stanly County, which is a county of about 60,000 people. It is predominantly white, mostly all rural and has a higher percentage of native North Carolineans than the big city areas of Charlotte and Raleigh. About 10% of the county receives food stamps and a little over 75% of people own their own homes. Albemarle itself has over 15,000 residents. Serious crime is pretty low with only 3 murders in Albemarle in 2006. The main jobs seem to be in construction. It is a basically a nice safe place to live within an hour or so of Charlotte

I agree with all that lovesmountains said here. We live in New London which is a very small town next to Albemarle. We love it here. The people are very friendly, family oriented, and helpful. Basically there are enough stores to do any kind of shopping needed in Albemarle. Some pretty good restuarants. One great restuarant!!! The area is beautiful with lots of farms and horse property. We looked from one end of NC to the other and were sold on this area.

Default Anything to do in Albemarle?

I know there are things that are in the surrounding areas like malls, shops, etc.. but are there things to do in Albemarle that maybe someone can share? I am SO scared to move there and be SO bored. I am a new mom and married. So I would like us to meet other people too. Any info will be helpful. Thanks!
