Default Deer on the highway

I was just down in Charlotte for 4 days and saw more deer on the side of the roads than anywhere ever. I think it's awful that game hunters dump their deer. They should do the respectable thing, take it home and cook it! ....

Anyway, when a friend of mine told me they weren't roadkill, I had to call shenanigans on him ..... and there it was in black and white ... on the INTERNET of all places so it MUST be true.

Carcass dumping pollutes, taints deer hunting (broken link)

There are also a lot of deer around the Charlotte area (you wouldn't think it, but there is). A lot of their homes are being disturbed by all the building so you see them more & more. Last winter when we had the snow I saw about 5 run through my backyard. I also saw one run across Rea Rd. in Union County on my way to work one day. I was praying it wouldn't get hit. Thankfully, it didn't

First of all, Charlotte is nowhere near Pitt County, which is a rural county where the story you referenced is coming from. Believe me, if you see deer along the roadways or interstates in CHARLOTTE those are deer that got hit by cars, not left by hunters.

HAHA, this is the funniest thread ever. Dude, we have more accidents than you can imagine due to deer on the roads. The media covers it every fall it is such a problem.

No hunter I know would dump a deer! That head is on the wall and the meat is in the freezer.

OMG do you know how far Pitt County is and if so have you ever been there? It is four hours away. Did you examine the carcuss to see if it was infact roadkill or shot by a hunter?
Besides Greenville the county is mostly wooded pine, sand hills or part of a coastal wetland.

If you are going to try to be an alarmist least post something local that is related to your claim and contact animal control or a NC wildlife officer.

My sister than lives near Buffalo/Niagara Falls hits deer with her car all the time. I think she hit six one year.

I would suspec The main reason why there are more dead deer on the roads THIS TIME OF YEAR is because the deer are going through their annual mating season. This is commonly referred to in the deer trade as "the rutt". Not mainly because of deer dumping.

They are very mobile and active looking for mates and consequently they are out in public more often then other times of the year.
