Machree is on a distinguished road
Default How windy is Lowgap really?

We are moving to the area close to Lowgap (that will be our mailing address but really we are 3 miles west of I-77) and have heard some tales of horrid winds in that area. How often do people have to replace their roof? Also for any gardeners out there what planting zone is this anyhow, 7a or 6b. I must say the area is beautiful. We look forward to our move.

What is the elevation in LowGap? I am thinking it will be more of a zone 6b type of place---I find this part of the mountains in NC is more similar to the appalachians in VA and north.

noaa.gov might have some useful historical data on wind and temps.
