GKN Driveline will invest $113 million and create 228 new jobs over four years at its plant in Catawba County.
The auto-parts manufacturer makes all-wheel drive systems, transmissions and other components for automakers including BMW, Chrysler, Ford and General Motors.

The company, a subsidiary of a British engineering firm with a U.S. headquarters in Michigan, will expand its manufacturing floor space in its Maiden facility.
About 730 people currently work there. Other GKN facilities across the state employ 1,530 people.
The average salary for the new jobs will be $39,986 plus benefits – about 10 percent more than Catawba County’s average annual wage.

Great news for Catawba County. This area badly needs more job announcements like this. So many people here work in Charlotte, and other areas...

That is good news for Sanford. Despite the negative press from some people, there are lovely, family-friendly areas to live in. There is good, inexpensive housing outside the city limits.

I never been to Sanford as it not along routes I would take west to east but I am with you that this will be catlyst in transformation of growth I believe the city will have within next five years.

In addition to these auto part making jobs I think the city will impacted with fracking industry which I hope the soldiers at Fort Bragg and residence of Lee County get.
