Default Anyone looking at Shelby?

Hi Everyone

I've responded to quite a few posts but this is the first time I've started a thread...hope I do this right. Being stuck at home recuperating from knee surgery I have too much time on my hands therefore, I'm searching for things to do. Is there anybody on the forum looking at Shelby?

I Just Purchased Land To Build On Last Week In Kings Mtn. I Am However, Closer To Shelby. It Seems Like A Very Nice, Progressive Town. Many Beautiful Older Homes, Plus The Town Seems To Be Moving Up. They Put In A Nice Senior Center And Park For Children. I Hear All This Talk Of Crime In This Forum And I Don't Know If That's True. I Do Now That Because Of The Influx Of Out Of Staters (esp Floridians) The Area Is Changing For The Better.

Default I Agree....

I've Recently Moved To Shelby From Ohio. I've Been Renovating A House I Bought Here Since 4/07. I've Got Woods, Creek, 80ft Tall Trees , Wildlife, ect, Right In The Back Yard! Yet I'm At The Edge Of The City.
I've Already Meet Many Others That Have Moved Here Recently Also From The Mid West, And Ne States. The Area Seems To Be Progressing. New Stores And Bussinesses Being Built On Hwy 74. Also Land, And Homes Are Cheaper Out Here, So People Are "discoverying" It's Also A Great Bedroom Cummunity To Charlotte.(only 50 Min. Drive) Recently Read In The Shelby Newspapers That Realestate Sales Have Picked Up Alot The First Quarter Of 2007, So I Think The Area Is Changing For The Better. Also New Boat Factory, And Indian Motorcycle Plant Opening In Near By Kings Mt!

My mom just bought a house in Shelby on the outskirts. She loves it!! It is a cute town with a lot of beautiful areas(rolling hills). There are alot of stores, but not awhole lot to do except Little League and church. Awesome city park with a restored merry- go- round, and a train. Love it!!! We go there when we visit, my kids love it!!

Question? Is Shelby a safe, good place to raise a family? I have heard talk of crime and a lot of drugs? It seems like a sleepy little town.

thx

The eastern half of Cleveland County is really being discovered. It probably should be included in the Charlotte metro area soon. It has good freeway access into Charlotte (Hwy.74/I-85. Pretty much a straight shot), some good industry, and commuting base. It's a very beautiful area.
