Default traffic ticket

Hello, I received a ticket today for 100.00 for not having my seat belt on. I was wondering if anyone knows if this can be appealed since I recently moved here and up in PA, they don't really pull you over for not having a belt on. Well at least I never was.

Ignorance of the law is no excuse, never has been.

And why were you driving without a seatbelt? I bet that officer has never unbuckled a dead person in a collision, but seen too many dead because they did not have a seat belt on.

Buckle Up Pennsylvania

Buckle Up North Carolina

I think you're going to have a hard time appealing your ticket. NC law -

Quote:
All drivers and passengers, in the rear seat as well as in the front seat, ages 16 and older must wear their seat belts. Children less than age 16 are covered by the NC child passenger safety law

The only defense I've ever heard of is an irrational fear of seat belts.

But good luck trying to prove that one.

Seat belt laws are enforced in PA....you were just lucky. The only excuse that I am aware of is a medical excuse which I doubt would be easy to obtain---and why would you want to? Just pay the ticket and learn from it. It's only you that could be hurt by not using your seat belt. So what's to fight.....?? They are trying to help to protect "YOU"!!!!

You probably got off easy. Usually an officer will not pull you over just for not having a seat belt on, but for a couple of issues and you only got the ticket for the seat belt.

Because the local law inforcement wasent enforcing the seat belt law in your local area in PA is no excuse. There isint any state in america that isint cracking down on the seat belt law. Its for your own safety. Pay your 100.00 dollars and buckle up.
