Is there an online resource that lists sold amount of homes in the area?

We're starting to look for a house and not ready to involve a RE agent in seeing homes, etc. but would like to get a better feel for selling prices. I know that RE can do comps based on a address, but I don't want to waste their time right now if I can do it myself (since I'm already browsing the new listings online).

The county doesn't have the nice online tax records like Wake and I've tried Zillow, but they don't have records for the area either (Sampson County/Fay. MLS).

Any web-site suggestions?

Thanks!

Tax records are no reflection of the market value.
Realtor.com has the calculator that you are looking for.

If an aggregate report would answer your questions, you can search for a monthly MLS report by the county you're interested in.This will help you get a sense of how many properties were sold within various price ranges. For specific properties, you may need to do a tax data search. If the property was sold recently, that might be some interesting (if dated) info.

You can try Trulia - they have a section that shows sold homes as well and seems to be fairly up to date.
