Default Bought land in Scotland County

I have receintly purchased 13+ acres in scotland county and plan on building on it. Is thier anything about the area i need to know? I will be looking for contacts about well drilling, septic,+misc. We have a 1-2 year plan to build+move down. But plan on a few trips down to kind of spruce up and think about things around March for a few weeks. THANKS Steve

The last I read, Scotland County had the highest county property tax rate in the state - 1.0600 per $100 of value. Long, hot summers too on the average.

I don't know if this thread is still being read. However the last place I owned a house my tax rate was 3 times the rate in Scotland county.

Given all of this... Does anyone know of any rental houses in the Laurinburg, Pembroke and Lumberton areas? I'm currently looking for a house to rent that accepts dogs. Hard to do from almost 800 miles away.

Not sure what you mean regarding handicapped/special population. St. Andrews Presbyterian College was, at one time, one of the most handicapped-friendly campuses in the nation. They've had to cut back many programs and services in recent years, but they did a lot of cutting edge things to accommodate the physically disabled. Because of this, the town of Laurinburg became much more accepting and understanding regarding physical disabilities, and did a lot of things to make the town more accessible for the disabled students. They also had Special Olympics there at one time--are they not doing that anymore?

The point is, overall I think Laurinburg is much more supportive of the handicapped/special population than other small southern towns of similar size. What is it that you're missing?
