You can't just come in, get us to welcome you and like you and then just leave? That is rude ...besides we welcome any input you may give with regards to country living...or any questions you may pose about country living folks.... .
Besides, 7 minutes away from civilization is 7 minutes AWAY from civilization and out towards the country...k??

We moved from NJ to NC . We have moved to Alexander County. We purchased 7 acres of woods and are having a house built there. We really love it here. Everywhere we drive there are farms .People are very friendly .It is so peaceful. We can go into Hickory for what we need but then we can go home.

That is some nice country out there! Western NC will probably not be a major climate change for you and it may even be warmer in the winter and not as hot in the summer.
We feel the same way here. We are about 15 miles out of Dunn here in Sampson County. I am attaching a NC county map so you will better understand where folks are when you swap posts. Here in the countrysides we tend to talk about which county rather than which city or town.
Hope your home gets built quickly and that it is the haven you want. You probably just added 10 years to your life spans by moving here..

a suggestion
Hi -- if we are going to talk about our counties, may I suggest that we give a rough idea of where in NCthe county is located (such as 'Lee County is about in the center of NC') so that those looking for info on a particular part of the state (mountains, coast, etc) will know some of the highlights of that area from our posts.
Thanks,
Nims

another suggestion
I don't know if particular sites can be specified here, but there are a bunch that allow you to pick one or several locales and keep track of temperatures and weather. I find it interesting to compare our soon-to-be home's weather with what we are experiencing here (in Florida).

Check this link out for county location.

We are located in Sampson County, one of the largest. It is located in south/southeast NC below Raleigh and northwest of Wlimington on the coast.
