Default Public School in Stanly County

Hopefully my son, his wife and their child will soon be moving here to join us in NC. I am curious how good the school system in Stanly County NC is. I have heard some very good things from some of the locals but have also read some not-so-good things on this forum--not necessairly about Stanly County. Any information would be appreciated.

cynwldkat:

I can't help at all since I know nothing about Stanly County, but since you are closer to Charlotte maybe someone in the Charlotte forum could help out? There must be someone there that lives in/near your county...Good luck to ya!

here is a link to NC report cards to check test scores
http://www.ncreportcards.com/src/

here's another link for a fee for service site, but it ranks all schools in a county or state for you, no checking each school individually, very helpful. I used it for my last two moves and it was very easy to use.
http://www.psk12.com/rating/index.php

As far as test scores, after a quick glance at the ncreport cards site, it looks like West Stanley high had best test scores, and probably the schools that feed into it would have the better scores.
Do you have friends or neighbors with children who you could ask? Test scores are a good measure but not everything...........
Good luck

Thanks for the information. I did wonder if posting this on the Charlotte thread would be better but wasn't to sure. I have asked the neighbors about the schools and they seem to think the public schools in this area are pretty good. Of course these neighbors went to these schools years ago. Just haven't asked anyone with children actually going to these schools at this time. I'll probably check with some of the parents I've seen around here. Still fairly new here and haven't talked to to many neighbors. The ones I have met have been great people!!

I wonder if a neighbor in the PTA could help? You coulkd call the school you think your child will attend and see who in your neighborhood has scholl age children? My two cents.
