This question is for the husband. He is wondering if there are many places to ride ATV's. What is the best area to live if you are an ATV enthusiast?

There is many areas that ATV riding is accepted as a way of life in north Carolina just make sure you have permission if you are going on private property or if it "game" season.

In the Piedmont:
I personally recommend southern end of Davidson County or Randolph County or anywhere near the Uwharrie Mountains and in the permitted areas of Uwharrie Forest.
Either the areas around South end of High Rock Lake, down to Morrow Mountain.

The Mountains:
There good spots up in the mountains as well in the Nantahala National Forest
Another good trail system near Casheirs NC in the Roy A. Taylor Memorial Forest

There is several private tracks and mud bogs in that portion of the mountains all the way to Murphy, NC

There is also an atv campground right above Boone near Mount Rogers

Coastal Plain:
There is atv park campground off Neuse River near Goldsboro it has mud pits, drag strips
Large trail system that includes, mud pits, water crossings and hard wooded trails.

I know 4 wheel riding is permitted along most of the outer banks and I know they have atv tours but I am uncertain if there is regulations on private owned atv's.
