Hi All,

I have been reading alot about the Raleigh/Durham/Ashville areas but was hoping that someone could post up what they know about the North East portion of the state.

I have been been looking at property in the Hertford/Bertie/Martin county area and really like the prices. I am looking to possibly purchase some retirement and maybe some investment property there, but am a little concerned about the higher than average crime statistics I am seeing.

Can anyone fill me in on this area of the state? Likes? Dislikes? Advantages? Disadvantages?

Any information would be appreciated! Thank you!

Just be sure you get a place on the mainland of these northeastern counties. If you get on the island and there is a hurricane and you have to evacuate, a lot of places only have one road out of there. And it is not somewhere I would want to be with a Cat 3 or higher hurricane coming to town.

Just wanted to clarify a bit to avoid confusion...

The specific counties you inquired about, Hertford/Bertie/Martin counties, are completely mainland.

You additionally inquired about NE portion of NC. Currituck county is the only part of NE NC that is part of the Outer Banks/island.
