Default North or South Carolina

I am hoping to relocate to either North or South Carolina this year. I have traveled through both and wonder if anyone who has lived or traveled extensively in both can list pros and cons in both areas. I was considering Charleston area SC (really like the city), or possibly the Triad area in NC(I have a friend who moved there--To Greensboro). Any help will be appreciated. I've read on different posts that people from South Carolina can be snobbish(hope this is not true) and some don't like newcomers. I do clerical work and have also worked in a library and as a cashier.

I live in North Carolina but out in the southern, rural part however.....

1. I worked on a project in Greensboro and found the folks there downright friendly.
2. My Wife and I visit Charleston every year, or at least we try to, and fund the same there.

My advice would be for you to try to concentrate on what you really want so we can help narrow your search. You cannot make a move on other folks' opinions unless there are facts to back them up.

Here is a link for Greensboro and one for Charleston:

Happy city hunting

Default Greensboro or Charleston

Closer to home is Greensboro, a pleasant city with friendly people, its close to the mountains if you like outdoor activities like skiing, rafting, etc. Charleston is a bit more "classy" and "upscale" in my opinion. It reminds me a lot of Richmond or Charlottesville with their many "First Families" of blue blood origin. The beaches around Charleston are awesome but it seems to be less
open to newcomers. Either area is a good choice!

Thank you for your replies. Both cities seem huge to me as I've only lived in fairly small towns. The whole blue blood thing is what scares me about about Charleston, although I liked the area.

I would recommend Greensboro due to people are more receptive to newcomers and you already have a friend in that location to help ease when honeymoon wears off of being in a new location.
I wouldnt worry about Greensboro being to large for you to manage it may be larger than wherever you are coming from but still has that Southern friendly small town feel to it. I like the triad due to it central location in the state so you will feel like you have more options on your day off. Both cities have sketchy areas but members in each forum will be glad to steer you away from those.
