Unfortunately, there are way too many people who both believe it's somehow their "right" to own pets and who indiscriminately breed them as often as nature allows. Frequently they dump the mother dog at the animal shelter and keep a puppy, then repeat the cycle over and over.

I think very few people would actually want to do that job but when you are faced with having to support yourself in a rural county you take what you can. Don't take your anger out on them, it's your community that is creating the problem that these poor people have to deal with. Be angry at your neighbors who don't respect animals.
