If recent estimates are any indicator, Mecklenburg will top 1 Million with this estimate and Wake will be barely shy of 1 Million. Of course, these estimates will be nearly a year old by the time they are made public and both counties are past that milestone now.
That begs the question, why does it take almost 9 months to put these numbers together each year?

Surprised they don't do these esitmates for 2015 anyway, halfway between official censuses.
They will, the statistics take about a year to be compiled.
