No, I really don't like Greensville. When I was in college, it was fun to go visit friends at ECU but now it's really not my cup of tea.

Greenville is okay for that part of NC. Compared to Greensboro, Boone, Asheville, Wilmington, Southport and several other cities, it isn't as great. But I wouldn't call it a bad city. Nor would I consider it one of my least favorite cities in NC.

Seriously, Tom...I would hate to think you're basing your decision on information you get from strangers (some very strange!) in an online forum. That said, Greensboro is a cool and progressive city (but so is Winston- Salem, Charlotte, Raleigh, Asheville, Wilmington, Durham, etc...). I went to college in GSO and loved it...I moved to Atlanta for a bigger city environment, but have nothing bad to say about W-S or GSO.

Rwarky-
I see that you listed Greenville as one of your favorite NC cities. We are considering a relocation to Greenville. Can you give me some insight as to what it is about Greenville you favor so much?

If Your Looking To Be Close To The Ocean Then I Suggest Currituck County Nc Its A Reat Place To Live Close To The Beach And Also Close Tova. Taxes Are Only .32 Per Hundred!!!. If Your Looking Inland Then I Love Mooresville Or The Outskirts Of It, Troutman, Statesville (iredell County) Lake Norman Just My Opinion!!!! Good Luck

I just want to set the record straight about Durham. I moved to southern Durham, near The Streets at Southpoint, November of 2005. I moved down from a very rural area of Massachusetts. This is my first experience living in a city…..if you even want to call this area of Durham a city. After LIVING in Durham for over a year, I can truly say I love living here. There is so much to do and everything is kept up so well. The only area of Durham I avoid at night is east central Durham. That area is where you will find most of the crime. It is an area that has not kept up with most of Durham. If you avoid that area, you will find that Durham has so much to offer. Northern Durham County is very rural, with lots of land and farmhouses. West central Durham has Duke University and many older and very nice homes. Southern Durham is where everything new is located, including the fabulous Streets at Southpoint mall. Most of the people that bash Durham are people that do not live here. If you do not live here, you do not know how good it is. When trying to get advice on Durham, listen to people that live here, not people that like to bash from afar.

high point residents
I've read some of the farvorites and some of the lease farvorites.Has anyone notice that on the lease favorite, High Point seems to be in the mix alot? As I've said before what is it about this town? (hp) now I'm down right curious,I feel like I should be writing to the mayor of (hp) he should be very concerned that no one wants to move there they say bad things about it and in some of the post the crime is bad.The way the comments are going High Point should be a ghost town in the next decade.I'd like to hear from the residents of this
terrible place that get such bad publicity

Im not a resident, but I looked into it, it appears the city if anything will be growing. Alot of growth coming from the Dell manufacturing plant in Forsyth county, and a planned Fed-Ex hub at the airport.
Demographics are roughly:
60% white
31% black
about 5% Latino.

I rarely come across a city in NC I dont like. Even the ones I complain about arent necessarily cities Id stay absolutely not live in.
Any city near lake Norman has generally been poorly planned as far as roads and growth go, Mooresville being the worst on that scale. But I still like Mooresville, watching the city grow weekly (literally) is nothing short of amazing for any city.
Huntersville, well you can thank the Birkdale area for keeping that city unique. It now comes to define Huntersville as a family city.
Cornelius and Davidson are hand in hand. Both kept their old town style, which is good. Cornelius has some of the largest homes I have ever seen.
Troutman reminds me of a someone waking up all of the sudden. Because it has stayed small and seemingly oblivious to all the growth around it for years. But it will all change this year and the coming years, the town will be transformed by massive growth.
Gaston county has several small towns. Dallas, Stanley, and the larger Belmont area.
Lincoln county has just lil ol Denver. That place is the least developed of all lake Norman, an unincorporated town where it was illegal just two years ago for a store to sell alcohol.
