Harnett County (Raleigh, Dunn, Oak City: houses, neighborhoods, elementary school)

Hello, my family is thinking of relocating to N.C. from Long Island N.Y. for all the reasons that you would expect why someone would be leaving NY. No need to rehash all that info.

We were in Raleigh for about 4 days and saw a lot of nice properties and neighborhoods, of course we liked some more than others. One sub division stood out more from the rest cause of the property, neighborhood, houses etc etc. The sub division is called Ballard Woods, the builders name is Oak City Homes. This is all in the area for Fuquay Varina.

I would like to hear any opinions on all of the above. Would also love to hear from someone about the school system. I have done some research and have found out that the elementary school there(Lafayette) was awarded school of excellence. Everything looked perfect and the price and such was within out range. It almost seems to good to be true, so thats why i am writing and hoping to get some other honest opinions.

I lived in Dunn briefly during 1986. And I was a private duty nurse for the child of the coach at the high school. The people were great and the I really liked it there but I missed where I actually came from and we eventually moved back. But it was your typical all American small town that North Carolina is famous for.
