Default Real Estate Values in NC

Is there any effect on the values of homes in NC area? I am hearing about the nation is feeling a tremendous effects in home values due to mortgage market. Does anyone know if there is any drop in the mortgages again or they are going to go steady. I need to refinance my home and I was just wondering. Thank you all in advance.
