Sure looks a lot better than the one in our neighborhood which looks just like a cell tower with nothing there to disguise it...and still I get roaming signals!

cell towers are only owned by specific companies and provide coverage for those customers unless another company leases out a spot on their tower

I like it--
Pretty neat idea. Wonder how many strings of Xmas lights it would take to wrap that tree, pole and all? Heh, heh.

I first saw it rising eerily from the fog earlier this week, had the sense the stifle my "WTF!" reaction, and came back later when the sky was clear. I've heard similar reactions from people who travel that same route: swerve -- point -- swivel around as they pass to check it out from the rear window.
I'll leave the audience in suspense for awhile as to what this is

This link shows many disguises for the cellphone towers these days.
Stealth Antennas
Here in NC I have only been aware of the pine tree disguise. Have seen them in North Raleigh, Durham, and Franklinton. But guess there could be many others depending on the environment and keeping up with the scenery .
I am impressed that they use this disguise of the tree. Especially around the rural areas of NC. Kinda ruins the picture moment when a cell phone tower sticks out .

I think it's pretty cool myself, trying to blend in with the surroundings. Of course it could also be viewed as a kind-of-creepy Blade Runner bit of foreshadowing.
I'll go with cool, I'll sleep better that way.
