The Attack of the 160' Toilet Brush
It's not as laughable as the South Carolina Peach Butt Water Tower, but this thing is going to cause some wrecks
I first saw it rising eerily from the fog earlier this week, had the sense the stifle my "WTF!" reaction, and came back later when the sky was clear. I've heard similar reactions from people who travel that same route: swerve -- point -- swivel around as they pass to check it out from the rear window.
I'll leave the audience in suspense for awhile as to what this is

I know what it is since I have a relative that works in the leasing of the land for that item.
I think it a great thing to help it blend in better with it enviroment. I believe in High Point, NC they have one shaped like a cross since the land is owned by a church.
Up close it kinda sticks out but from a distance it is alot more pleasing to the eye but I question low flying aircraft managing around it on a low visibility clearance.
If you can stand something like that on your land they pay a decent lease price for the use of your property.

Is this the same cell-tower in Cary off Harrison Ave? There's been one there (not-so cleverly disguised as a pine tree) for about 10 years that can be seen from the interstate, if you know which direction to look - it's hilarious! Thanks for the pic.

It is a salute to all the women applying make-up including mascara while driving to work.

Yes, located in Rowan County, smack dab almost next the road. Here's a closeup of the top (non-sequitor:the sky sure was pretty that day; a fine example of "Carolina Blue")
Sunny - there's a small, private airport nearby; a reason that a proposed 190 foot tower was not allowed. It was apparently to satisfy the sensibilities of the NC State Historic Preservation Office that the tower had to be "disguised". I'm trying to think just what is so historic in the area, it's a small community well outside Salisbury. Whatever; they got their wish; it is "disguised", and well on its way to becoming a local landmark in and of itself
