Gentlemen, start your engines
So, is car racing still really a big sport here? It seems to have taken the back seat to many other sports lately!!

Concord's Hendrick Motorsports alone is a $200 million a year operation according to Newsweek.
According to WRAL-TV in Raleigh, NASCAR racing pumps around 6 billion dollars annually into the state's economy.

I believe racing is believed to be the number one most watched sport now. I heard that somewhere.

Most of the race teams are located in North Carolina
The reason you have not heard anything lately because the races was on Break from their ten month season. Nascar racing is the longest running sport.
First major race of the season is February 16th the Daytona 500.

Trust me...this is true:
My husband has a countdown calendar on his computer desktop that has been counting down the days to the Daytona 500. Every couple of days he says "Only (x) number of days until the Daytona 500 hun!"
Argh.
He also has a paper calendar with #20 on it (No, I don't know who drives #20) that has 365 trivia bits of info that I have to politely listen to every now and again.
Do we live down South? Nope. We live in Amish Country for crying out loud.
However, we're moving to NC next year. I thought it was because he wanted better weather ... now I wonder if it really has to do with being closer to NASCAR. OMG. I'm done for now.

Okay, I'll be honest....my step son works on one of the NASCAR race cars and my hubby use to and is a die-hard! Just seems it has died off lately. Thought I'd just check and see how many of you are still out there??!!

I'm not sure. Every time I've opened a topic here on racing it's pretty much fallen flat. There does seem to be a lack of interest, at least in the Charlotte forum.
I'm counting the days 'til March 22nd and the first racing of the season at CMP.
