North Wilkesboro is in Wilkes County too. Sometimes it is hard to know where one town ends and the other town begins. They used to be separated by the river.
And Wilkes County used to go all the way to the Mississippi River.
There's a whole other story there. If you want to, you can look it up.
The Wachovia people probably are not upset at all, because they got to keep their banks name. The headquarters move to Charlotte came about with merger of Wachovia Bank and First Union Bank. I don't know why the Charlotte based bank chose to use the Wachovia name, but it is a good thing.

Davidson is actually in two counties. Iredell and Mecklenburg.

I do not mean to debate the issue but a large number of cities in this day of time have annexed into other counties but base on city data facts Davidson is in Mecklenburg

Part of Davidson city limits crosses over into Iredell county. That is what I meant by "in two counties". Didin't mean to get ya all riled up.

You must not have grown up in NC if this is the first time you are seeing that map. In 4th grade NC history we had to memorize each NC county, each county seat and all of the rivers. The purpose of all that memorization is beyond me but we did it.

My grandfather, God rest his souls, was a lifelong resident of the area and referred to the town as Winston and Salem.

the Wilkesboro's are still separated by the river.
All of NC used to extend to the MS river.
Wachovia was named by the Moravian settlers and means 'peaceful valley'.
The reason First Union took the Wachovia name is because Wachovia had a much better reputation in financial circles.
Jonesville is in Yadkin, not Jones county.
