It's no secret that the attendance has been slipping steadily after the 2012-2013 season (their highest average at 17,558). But if anyone can understand the pain of year after year of losing seasons and what that can do to attendance it should be fans of the Charlotte Bobcats. I'm a huge fan of all NC pro teams so it pains me to say that no one cared about the Bobcats. For someone to bash Raleigh and the Canes while ignoring Charlotte basketball in the 2000s is just unfair. I'm really happy the Hornets are back and they were able to turn things around, but that should be an indicator that the Canes can do the same thing.
Atl couldn't support the NHL either.

NHL can be a hard sell in the South, even in cities with a lot of Northern transplants.

During the hockey season the Charlotte Checks get a lot of support from the people of Charlotte. It is because they love hockey and not because the tickets a cheaper than the Canes.

The Checkers draw OK for minor league hockey but there are plenty of AHL teams that draw better.

Checkers were 10th in the AHL for attendance with 4 or so much smaller markets ahead of them.

I'm more than certain that cheap tickets have something to do with it. Lots of people who aren't super interested in minor league sports support the teams because it can be a fun, cheap outing with the family or friends.

Here's my opinion on hockey in the Carolinas. I believe that the Canes would have better attendance in Charlotte, especially if they played uptown.

Now, before you disagree, look carefully at the NBA/NFL stats from last year. Compare Charlotte's teams to Atl and New Orleans.

2016 NFL Football Attendance - National Football League - ESPN

If Charlotte can outperform Atl and NO in 2 sports, then Charlotte can easily outperform Raleigh in 1 sport. I could be wrong, but that's how I see it. As a pro-sports market, Charlotte is fairly strong across the board (that includes minor league hockey and baseball).

You Charlotte posters are weird. Why would you keep making posts on why Raleigh shouldn't have an NHL team. Are you stock holders? We've always supported the Panthers and Bobcats (Hornets).
