I have been looking into moving to Florida, but a lot of posts on here are making me second guess my decision.
I guess North Carolina would be my next option to look into...I want to live in a state down south with lots of sunny weather. I want to live in a city of relative size with charm and yet full of southern hospitality. I want there to be a lot to do and many opportunities to socialize and make friends, as I will be moving alone. I enjoy being out on the water...laying on the beach...boating...salt water fishing...crabbing.
I want a city that is affordable for a single person, no roommates with a 50-70K salary and lots or nursing jobs available. What coastal North Carolina towns/cities do you recommend for a 20 something year old single female?
Also, what is dating like? And socializing like? When I lived in South Carolina, a lot of people were very pleasant and chivalry didn't appear to be dead like it does up north in my hometown. Is NC a lot like SC? Would you recommend NC over FL or other way around and why?
Opinions/personal stories/native's opinions PLEASE ADVISE
Thanks!!!!

Wilmington is what you're looking for in NC.

As suggested above, the Wilmington area is the best fit for you. However, finding a nursing job will be very competitive, as the area is very desirable to locals also.

Broaden the job search a bit to Brunswick, Pender, Onslow and Craven Counties. For example, you might be interested in Jacksonville which has a large surplus of 20-something males because of the military.

You might also find more job opportunities in the Myrtle Beach, SC area. Myrtle Beach is growing fast, but the beach is much more commercialized than North Carolina beaches. It is also more singles-oriented than North Carolina beaches which are very family-oriented.

Default Coming to Coastal NC as well - need advice

Hi-
my husband and I and our 7 year old son were looking in the New Bern area. Definitely need a family friendly/oriented town as he is an only child. Good school system. Most likely my husband will be working at New Bern Hospital so something within short driving distance, preferably close to the ocean.
We are New Englanders and need to get out of the cold weather.
Any suggestions on good areas down there? Something affordable but certainly not the ghetto.
Price range of home under $200K
Any help would be great !!!

I think you can find what you want in Newport. The elementary school is slightly better than in those in New Bern and the town is closer to the ocean.

You can probably find a 3/2 ranch for your price range.

You'd be better off to start your own thread in the Coastal NC Forum. To piggyback onto a thread started by a 20-something single creates the possibility of a lot of confusion with replies to each.
