My husband and I are wanting to move to North Carolina. Hope Mills area since he can transfer to the Walmart DC there. Anyways we have a daughter that is 3. An we want to learn more about the schools and crime rate for the area. Is Hope Mills safe? Is there tons of stuff to do? Schools good? An what area is best to live at in Hope Mills.

I would not recommend moving to Hope Mills. Most people who move to that area do so because they have to, not because they want to. If you're interested in moving to NC there are much better places to live and raise a 3 y/o child.

Hope Mills is next to Fayetteville; one of the poorest cities with one of the highest crime-rates in NC.

"Is there tons of stuff to do?"......really?

Unless you are in the military; there is no reason to move to the Fayetteville area.

Folks on city data are very oriented to more urban and liberal areas. Hope mills isn't bad at all. If you tell us where you are from we can better give you an idea

Obviously in some respects it might be a downgrade in culture compared to Ann Arbor or larger metros but if you have good work there you can have a good quality of life

North Carolina in general, and Cumberland County more specifically, have subpar schools.

For the Hope Mills area, I'd suggest looking in the Stoney Point area (west of Hope Mills); the schools there are among the best in the county (Stoney Point Elementary, New Century Elementary and Middle School, Jack Britt High School).

Traffic is terrible between 5am to 9am and then again from 4pm to 7pm; Hope Mills has become primarily a bedroom community for the soldiers who wanted to get out of Fayetteville. If your husband is going to work at the Walmart DC, you might want to look at the Grey's Creek area in addition to Hope Mills. It's more rural and land prices are cheaper.

Crime in Hope Mills isn't too bad considering it's proximity to Fayetteville.

There really isn't a whole lot to do there unfortunately.

You could look into the Cedar Creek area or Vander area as well. It would take him about 10-15 minutes to get to work. That puts you in the Cape Fear School district--4 of the top 5 elementary schools are in the Cape Fear district (Beaver Dam, Stedman, District 7, & Eastover-Central). And our middle school & high school (Mac Williams & Cape Fear) are really great too!

I would not recommend Hope Mills, Fayetteville, Spring Lake...nothing in Cumberland or Hoke coubties. Dirty, old, run down, high crime, poor schools, impoverished residents, thugs everywhere, hottest place in the state...nothing appealing about the Fayetteville "metro" at all. Your husband is looking to transfer to a different walmart from his in DC? There are much, much, much better locations in NC with Walmart than Fayettehelle

Lord Helmit - the OP is referring to a WalMart Distribution Center, not District of Columbia.

OP, ignore Lord Helmit or, at best, take him with several grains of salt. He posts nothing but negative stuff about the Fayetteville area.

OP, you would be wise to NOT ignore me; I've lived in MANY locations, including:

Springfield, MA
Pensacola, FL
Trenton, NJ
Los Angeles, CA
Little Rock, AR
Mount Holly, NJ
Brooklyn, NYC
Myrtle Beach, SC
Southern Pines, NC
Fayetteville, NC
Durham, NC
Chapel Hill, NC

Point being: I know well how to judge a city. I lived in 3 locations in Fayetteville for the better part of 3 years. ALL 3 locations for ALL 3 years were the worst of my life so far, and that's no exaggeration. I hated my life. I post nothing but negative stuff about Fayettehelle because that's all it deserves. It has a few nice qualities, such as a cute downtown (that has nothing to do but ward off bus asking for money or pissing on buildings), it has a decent mall (when people aren't getting shot over Jordans, getting their cars broken into in the parking lot, or getting pulled into the bathroom to get raped) and it has a very nice Airborne museum. And FTCC is a great school with a LOT of students. I take offense that you would tell the OP to ignore me. I'm not some troll with 3 posts. I don't post negative things about Fayettehelle for fun, I do it to warn the potential relocators and give the reality of Fayettehelle for tens of thousands of people. I am certainly not the only one here who never has anything good to say about it. I never witnessed so much crime or heard so many gunshots in my life until Fayetteville. OP, if you have a lot of money and can live in a gated community or somewhere far from Fayetteville, you can blind yourself to the sadness and depression you will see there and you will probably like it. If you are middle class or can afford only less than 1000 for rent, you will hate it.

I've NEVER heard gunshots, no one has ever been raped at the mall, and it's not the hellhole you try to make it out to be Lord Helmit. You purposefully overlook the good qualities and the nice people that live and work in Fayetteville.
