I hope the proposal advances quickly to become law.

Why?

Do you live in Chapel Hill? Carrboro? Durham? What if the citizens in that community don't support it? Tell them to pound sand? The State is the political boundary that should hold all power?

I'm so sick of this "punishments" and restrictions and penalties and withholding funds. Can't they just work on solutions for North Carolinaand stop focusing on silly BS that dorsnt really do anything for out state?

First the Feds never asked state or local LEOs to ask about citizenship. That is a bald faced lie. This is yet another attempt by the far right wing legislature to punish cities and counties they hate. Jesse Helms always wanted to pave the UNC campus.

The General Assembly needs to do something good for this state instead of just getting all up in the cities business.

Why are Durham and Chapel Hill prohibiting officers from checking immigration status? Aren't they required to enforce local, state and federal laws?

Sanctuary Cities should be illegal. Why can cities in the U.S. protect illegal immigrants? It doesn't make any sense!

I don't like the idea of sanctuary cities; immigration should be set and enforced at the federal level.

But I really don't like the way that these state legislators are trying to restrict the legislative choices of NC municipalities.

North Carolina's leadership at the municipal level is far more competent than the state legislature. The trend should be working the other direction, giving cities more autonomy, not trying to legislate everything in the general assembly.
