My daughter and I are headed from Raleigh to Georgia for some camping in the national forest next week. I rashly suggested a side trip to Atlanta to see the aquarium. I've been there, it is a pretty nice aquarium!
Then I realized that Atlanta is a good 2 hours from where we will be in N. Georgia. Would the aquarium in Charlotte be an acceptable substitute?
We were recently at the aquarium/zoo in Greensboro which was a nice outing, and also at the Ft. Fisher Aquarium. Honestly? I think we enjoyed Greensboro more.
Well if you do go the Atlanta route you can make two side trips out of it, hit up Stone Mountain 1st and then drive 30 minutes to the Aquarium, enjoy then be on your way to the main trip.
Actually if you're going to north Georgia, it might be better to check out the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga. I've heard several people say they enjoy it more than Atlanta's aquarium, which is often crowded and it's more expensive.
