I know nothing about the area you want information on, but...let me tell you...I think it's GREAT that you're already searching in advance as I too took two years to research where I thought I wanted to live. I did a thorough investigation and knew the area like the back of my hand geographically, economically, affordability, tax structures, utilities, everything before I moved here. I think it's brilliant what you're doing! Good luck!

Thanks a billion for your comment MoMark, I picked Hillsborough because according to citydata it has a small population of 5446 (which I don't mind) it's pretty safe,I think, and it's 15 min from Durham which is a great city for business. thanks again I'll keep an eye out for Hillsborough replies.

If your husband is an EE student, you may want to check out the distance to RTP, not just Durham, which will be farther. My husband is an engineer who works in RTP at the southeastern most corner - he could throw a rock and hit the airport. As a massage therapist, you should have great opportunities with all the hospitals and doctors in the area, too. Once you're here, I'll call you when my neck and back freeze up. Good luck!
