So, we were a blue state when we went for Obama?

Because, we have pretty much always been purple around here. R for President and most Governors are D.

Senate and House are usually a mix, but that varies from election to election.

This state is purple. That's why it's a swing state. Trump didn't win this place by a wide margin.

Same as Florida.

Not at all.

If anything, NC has only been a faint purple. Only about 15 counties are blue. I was surprised at how many NE counties went blue.

This is a red state. That at times becomes faintly purple. But the red is always looming.

if McCrory loses, it has more to do with him backing off his support for Trump when the lewd comments video hit a few weeks ago. he lost a good number of Trump supporters when he did that.

and given how close the election was, to me it underscores the importance of requiring photo ID to vote.

Interesting... Would you say that the role of President or Governor has a bigger impact on the lives of North Carolinians?

if i'm not mistaken,, Republicans in NC only won control of the NC state legislation in 2010 or so, the first time since Reconstruction. i think you could say the state is trending to the right, and I view Obama has an anomaly. I don't see any other Democrat on the horizon that can turnout the voters that he did for the party.

it is odd to me how states often have different party results when voting for president, and when voting for governor. for the example, Maine and Vermont have Republican governors but the GOP presidential candidate never competes in those states.

This all trivial in the big picture. The important results were a Republican Senate and White House. Trump's Attorney General will conduct a proper investigation into the Clinton crime family come 2017. New Supreme court Justices 2017.

McCrory has served his time return to the private sector and enjoy life. Let Cooper have it. He won't abide by his oath of office any more than he did as Attorney general.

does NC have automatic recount laws for close elections like this?

i was surprised that none of the media outlets were calling it for Cooper. makes me think they think the provisional ballots will favor McCrory big league.

Can we assume the DOJ/DOE threat letter over schools integrating genders goes away?
