Default Commuter Options?????

My husbands company would like us to transfer to Ft Bragg/Fayetteville area. We have a six year old daughter and from what I have seen/heard about this area it is not suitable for raising a family. We currently reside in Northern Virginia outside of D.C. where my husband commutes to the city. Does NC offer any commuter options that would allow us to live in a better part of NC or diffrent city and have my husband commute to Ft Bragg??
Any help you could offer would be great.

Of course there are options! Huge developements (2,500/3,500 homes) are being constructed in Cameron, NC. Harnett County. Some in Moore County. The ones in Harnett are @15 mins from Bragg. 25/30 mins from Moore to Bragg. Then there is Vass, Southern Pines, Aberdeen and Pinehurst. All within 40/45 mins to Bragg.
Now you've got some homework to do on the different schools, towns, safety, quality of life, etc. Good luck! If I can help further, let me know.

We are also transferring to Fort Bragg from Nothern Virginia. Sure, it is going to be different, but I have been assured by lots of people that its a very nice place to live. From what I have seen so far - there are parts of Cumberland County that are very nice, as well as the Southern Pines area and Harnett County. Keep an open mind and do lots of research - good luck!

My Father was in the Air Force and we were stationed in Ft Bragg for must of my childhood life. I loved the Military but can personally tell you that no matter what area you live in around Ft Bragg, you'll have a very hard time shielding your daughter from the negatives aspects of Fayetteville; especially as she gets older. I could not wait to leave that area when I went to college. Just my experience...
