Default Possible Relocation - Software Engineer

My wife & I (and child on the way) are considering a move from Southern PA and NC is one of the places on our list. I was wondering if anyone knew how the job market was for Software Engineers was. I have 4 years experience working mostly with .Net (c#). Any help would be appreciated.

Also, this forum is great. There is a lot of great information here. Thanks for everyone who provides their knowledge.

Hi there,
I'm not sure what the market is, but I do have some clients in IT that have relocated/are relocating to the Charlotte area. I have the names of some headhunters if you would like. Just PM me and I would be happy to provide them to you. Best of luck to you

There seem to be many C# jobs down here. What kind of backend experience do you have? Predominantly Oracle in the Raleigh area. Also, if you have any data warehosuing skills that is a plus. Not the best pay rates though. If you want to PM me, I can give you the names of some people to contact as well.

I work extensively with SQL Server creating relational databases. In general, what is the pay range that could probably be expected ( I know it varies from company to company).

If you want to start out as a contractor, which is where most of the jobs seem to be, I would think that you could pull in $35-40 hour. Does not seem to be as many SQL opportunities in the Raleigh area but they are still out there. Some of the listings on Dice.com and Monster will be up front for their rates.

I started out as a cotractor and then went full time with the company I worked at and made a comparable salary to what I was earning. I did have contact with some other companies (bank in RTP) and there pay rate was WAY OFF. Very low for senior level positions.
