The poll of 953 registered N.C. voters took place from Jan. 13-16. Public Policy Polling surveyed people both by phone and online. The survey has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.2 percentage points.

Among their findings --and remember, Trump says the polls are wrong:

1. The most popular city: Wilmington, then Raleigh, Asheville, Winston-Salem, Greensboro, Chapel Hill

2. UNC-Chapel Hill is the state’s most popular college basketball team; 33 percent of those polled said the Tar Heels are their favorite. They’re followed by Duke (19 percent), N.C. State (16 percent) and Wake Forest (5 percent).

3. North Carolina’s favorite NFL football team is the Carolina Panthers, picked by 44 percent of those polled. Next is the Dallas Cowboys (8 percent). Pittsburgh and Washington tied at 5 percent.

4. Krispy Kreme doughnuts (64 percent) of Winston-Salem are the choice over Dunkin Donuts (23 percent).

5. North Carolinians prefer to take their vacations at the beach (58 percent) over the mountains (33 percent).

6. About a quarter of those polled say they wish North Carolina got more snow. Another quarter want less. Half say the state gets just the right amount. (Might be respondent bias, since the polling period, Jan 13-17, is just after the state received snow)

Why would they ask the favorite NFL team? There is only one. Stupid question.

Why wouldn't they ask the favorite college football team, of which there are numerous...especially since they asked basketball.
